my cat dying just served as a grim telegram that one day the rest of my pets will each make a similar date with this Pet Reaper.

the more I look, the more I realize Poe ain't doing so hot.

I'm depressed enough as it is, I don't really need to think about one of my best friends kicking the bucket.

These days, my major stress reliever is cooking. Granted I don't have much time in any given week to construct anything of substantial construction, but when I do I tend to go all out, and I enjoy it. The process is enjoyable, with an instant gratification of senses even before the final product has been completed, and there's a strong base of science as to why certain dishes involve certain ingredients, rather than just 'it tastes good' which actually adds a lot of motivation to learn. I'm honestly extremely interested in cooking, so much so that I'm more motivated to bake a cheesecake than I am to sit down and write. I wish I'd figured this out a few years ago, since if I ever decide I want to pursue a more dedicated interest in the culinary arts, I'll essentially be playing catchup my entire life. Or maybe it will just remain a hobby, or a footnote to interest women. Only time will tell.

IN A BUCKET (at least 10 gallon)...

Mix...

A fifth of Bacardi Select
A fifth of Bacardi Dark
A fifth of Bacardi 151
A fifth of Bacardi Limon
A fifth of Bacardi Razz
A fifth of Captain Morgan

Equal part of that mixture to 3 parts Sobe Power.

Add dry ice, wait a few minutes, then drink with straw or lengths of tubing until you can't feel anything.

It's called a Warp Core Breach and we need to do this

It's reached the point where I'm so bored I'm actually doing schoolwork ahead of time. Lots of it. The way my classes are set up I basically know exactly what is due and when, so I've just been writing nonstop and have all of my Journalism articles and 40 pages of fiction for my Creative Writing class, as well as most of my Philosophy essays.

I'm fucking bored

I kind of stopped listening to music the past few days and instead have just been streaming NPR. It's pretty awesome

The past few days have been fantastic and I have no idea why. I guess it doesn't matter though.

Robin is back! Robin is someone I used to work with then left but now she is back! This is a good thing, as she was always one of my favorites.

I figured out what I want for my next tatoo. Kind of. It's a work in progress, but it will be great

More info on the stimulus package. If it goes unchanged by the House people could start expecting these as early as June. While this is surely going to be nice for consumers, just doling out cash isn't going to completely pull us out of this. It will be interesting to see what else they've got planned.

I finally got a scarf! My lovely internet friend Sheri made it for me and it is delightful. At the risk of sounding a little ungrateful (I'm not though because seriously this scarf is awesome) I must say I was looking forward to getting one from Kate instead (or as well). Still though it's 100 percent awesome and warm and it feels the same as the old afghans my grandmother used to make.

This past weekend I made three large cakes and several dozen cookies. Today they're all gone, largely thanks to my brother and what I can only assume are pot induced super powers. A prospect which gives a hilarious new meaning to the phrase 'power nap'

I have ten pages of fiction due Wednesday and I haven't even started. Off to a good start.

EDIT: While doing some shopping today I was also pleased to find that Jones Soda is now officially a thing on the east coast. It took forever, but it's worth it. If you're unaware of Jones, it's a soda that uses pure cane sugar instead of high fructose corn syrup for its sweetness. Not only does this make it healthier (by comparison) it tastes delicious and comes in many delightful flavors.

As much as I love making twenty dollars an hour to do monkeys work (the regular kind, not even the smart ones that go into space) I'm growing increasingly tired of my job. There's nothing specific that irritates me, aside from completely resigning my Fridays and Saturdays in exchange for the dying American dollar.

Though I suppose as long as I'm making two thousand dollars a month working part time there isn't much validity to my complaints.

Congress considers tax rebate to stimulate economy

Basically they're thinking about cutting a check to 50-100% of Americans. $800 is the figure being thrown around, so far.

I liked Cloverfield. Yeah! I said it! True it had the backdrop of a generic disaster thriller, but the perspective of the experienced changed for the better, I think. I would have rather had it this way instead of another "Morgan Freeman (or Morgan Freeman-esque character) sitting in the oval office having an internal conflict on whether to use "the bomb" or not. And I did enjoy the ending, because if it didn't end that way, it would have been bullshit. There were some over the top moments that led to the ending, sure, but as they say, the end justifies the means.

I went out and decided I'd do a total diet 180, today. Not only am I ditching the "one giant meal a day" routine, I'm actually going to start eating healthy. No more processed junk, toning it way down on the take out, and I'm finally going to start eating like a normal person. Here's hoping my self control holds up!

I also bought a bunch of smell nice things so the house doesn't smell like a foot that's smoked way too much pot.

During my internet travels I recently came across a neat little game called AUDIOSURF. This cute little distraction creates stages from the songs you have on your computer. Basically it uses factors like bass and speed to make a rollercoaster like track. It reads the music beforehand and creates stages on the fly, which means any song works, bought, stolen, or homemade. It's only in beta now but it's a really neat program that's worth keeping your eye on.

Between the horse odor and assorted weed paraphernalia scattered throughout the house the pungence was honestly enough where I had to stop eating my lunch and relocate.

My brother refuses to get his car fixed which means he constantly asks to use mine and I always say yes (I know this one is entirely my fault but as many of you are aware I have problems saying no) so I am effectively stuck here until he returns. He also cleverly left his cell phone which renders me unable to contact him

EDIT: The good news is I got my W2's from work yesterday. That's about another grand in the bank, there.

I finally bought a weight set. If it works well I'll probably cancel my gym membership because it's seriously bleeding me dry.

I'm also going back to contacts. I suspect I'll still wear my glasses a considerable amount of the time, but I essentially get a years worth for like thirty dollars so why the hell not? Plus I'll be able to wear sunglasses again.

Had a long, long talk with mother dear today, once again about my future. I'm going to give school one last shot to wow me. I'm in my third goddamn year, and I while I agree with the whole "do things for yourself" thing I wouldn't feel right about just up and stopping after we've all fought tooth and nail to pay for me this far.

And last, but not least, The Decemberists are great and Picaresque is the best album ever
